A young pianist at the Munich conservatory prepares for the audition of her life with Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 – the piece Polish radio broadcast as bombs fell on Warsaw in 1939. While she perfects her technique, fragments of her family’s untold wartime past begin to surface, and the line between history and identity blurs. The film grew out of the memory project ECHOS.
