Studio

third kind film is a Munich studio founded by Nicole Humiński, Nikolai Huber and Michele Cherchi Palmieri. It works in three kinds of film: narrative, documentary, and commissioned work for museums, architects and cultural institutions.

The three have worked together since Coins in 2020. Nicole and Nikolai have made films and installations for the Architekturmuseum der TUM since the same year; their own films have gone to Tallinn Black Nights, the Warsaw International Film Festival and the Deutscher Kamerapreis.

Founders

  • Nicole HumińskiDirection, production, editing · Munich

    German-Polish director and producer from Munich. She studied theatre, film and media studies in Vienna and directing at the HFF München; her films have screened at Tallinn Black Nights and the Warsaw International Film Festival, and since 2020 she has made films and installations for the Architekturmuseum der TUM, the Pinakothek der Moderne and the NS-Dokumentationszentrum München – Deutscher Kamerapreis 2025 for editing. At third kind film she leads direction and production.

  • Nikolai HuberCinematography, post-production · Munich

    Cinematographer, trained at the HFF München; Deutscher Kamerapreis 2022 for Coins and a special mention for cinematography at Camerimage 2017 for Find Fix Finish. His credits include Bubbles (Filmfest München 2025) and No More Trouble (Alice nella Città 2024), and as visual effects artist and DIT he worked with Werner Herzog and Abel Ferrara; his work has been shown at Camerimage, TIFF, IDFA, Cannes and MoMA Doc Fortnight. At third kind film he is responsible for cinematography and post-production: colour, visual effects and DCP mastering.

  • Michele Cherchi PalmieriProduction · Rome / Munich

    Cinematographer and producer, born 1990 in Piacenza, based between Rome and Munich. He shot Marco Bellocchio’s Marx Can Wait (Cannes 2021) and the Netflix series Sanpa, with productions in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Brazil; he has worked with Nicole and Nikolai since Coins. At third kind film he leads production with a focus on European co-production.
